The main temple is maintained by the Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and is visited by over 8 million yatris annually. The trek to the top bestows you with stunning sights of nature. Numerous stalls of refreshments and religious souvenirs are dotted along the trek where you can stop to relax before taking the journey ahead. ?
Before visiting the main shrine, every devotee stops at the Ardh Kuwari Cave where it is believed that the goddess rested for 9 months. Devotees take a stop at this cave to take rest and explore the large shrine here dedicated to Kali, Laxmi and Saraswati. Also, it is believed that a pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi remains unfulfilled if one does not visit the Bhairavnath Temple. This temple is located 3 km from the holy caves of Vaishno Devi and is dedicated to a Saint turned demon, Baba Bhairavnath. It is said that Goddess herself announced that no pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi will be complete until one visits the Bhairav Temple.
